I used to do loads and loads of laundry and it became overwhelming. I just wash those pair of pants the other day and here it goes again in the laundry basket! It gets frustrating to see loads of soiled clothes especially when I just did the laundry 2 days ago.
The Trick. So before the eldest daughters went to high school, I started teaching them to do their own laundry. Ehem, I am not the maid in the house and I had a full time job at that time. I showed them how to sort the whites, the lights and the darks. I made them responsible for their own laundry because they use the most clothes. Since then, my frustration about laundry went away. (Not that I do not like this chore, but I'd rather cook)
DD1 and DD2 never sort their clothes until they went off to college. I guess they eventually learned. When they come home from school, they bring their laundry. I am happy that they sort it the way I taught them. I hope they will teach their kids when that time comes.
Now that it's winter months, my laundry is gazillion because we use more clothes. I taught the little boy to help me put the laundry in the washer. He loves to help me put the washed laundry in the dryer. If he can only carry the basket he'd do it for me. Now I am teaching the little ones early, hopefully they will learn faster.
